About LUX

Lux Fellowship seeks to be fixated on the glory of Christ, to be renewed by the Gospel in mind and spirit, and to be SENT BY BEING moved to live out the Great Commission in Spirit and Truth.

What Does "Lux" Mean?

“Lux” comes from the Latin phrase, Post Tenebras Lux, which means, “After Darkness, Light.” John 1:5 tells us, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Jesus Christ is the Light that radically saves us from our own darkness and draws us into the glorious light of his salvation. Lux Fellowship seeks to proclaim that truth and to bring light to the darkness of today’s world, including in the community of Rock Spring and beyond!

Our Doctrinal Foundation

  • The Holy Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the foundation of our faith and the final authority for all matters of Christian belief and practice. We believe that the Scriptures are not merely a collection of human writings, but the very Word of God, breathed out by Him and therefore without error in the original manuscripts.

The Bible is unique in its divine origin, authority, clarity, and sufficiency. It is the supreme standard by which all other teachings and traditions are to be judged.

Therefore, the Bible guides our preaching, teaching, worship, and daily living.

  • The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith

The Elders at Lux Fellowship affirm the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith, which is a historic statement of the Christian faith, adopted by Particular Baptists in England. It provides a comprehensive summary of biblical doctrine and articulates our beliefs about God, the Bible, salvation, the church, and the Christian life. It is a detailed and systematic exposition of the major doctrines of the Bible, providing a rich theological heritage.

  • The Baptist Faith and Message

The Baptist Faith and Message is a statement of faith adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention. It serves as a concise summary of basic Christian beliefs, particularly as understood by Baptists. While affirming the core doctrines of the 1689 Baptist Confession, the Baptist Faith and Message offers a contemporary expression of these truths. Our church finds the Baptist Faith and Message to be a helpful summary of Christian doctrine.

Our Beliefs

  • The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice. We believe both the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God.

    2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • Humanity

We believe that all people are created in the image of God but have fallen into sin through Adam’s disobedience. All are in need of salvation, which is by God’s grace alone.

    Genesis 1:27

    Romans 3:23

  • The Church

We believe the local church is the visible body of Christ, called to worship God, disciple believers, and proclaim the Gospel to all nations.

    Acts 2:42

  • God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Matthew 28:19

  • Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe in baptism by immersion as a symbol of faith and the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice.

    Romans 6:4

    1 Corinthians 11:23-26

  • Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Jesus Christ’s atoning death and resurrection secure the redemption of those who believe in Him.

    Ephesians 2:8-9

Our Church Covenant

As members of this church, we commit ourselves to the following:

  • To love one another

To love one another with genuine affection (Romans 12:10). This love is not merely a feeling, but a commitment to serve and care for one another, even in times of difficulty.
  • To pray for one another

To pray for one another regularly (Ephesians 6:18). We recognize our dependence on God and the power of prayer to meet the needs of our fellow members.
  • To encourage one another

To encourage one another in the faith (Hebrews 3:13). We seek to build one another up, offering words of exhortation, comfort, and challenge as needed.
  • To submit to one another

To submit to one another in humility (Ephesians 5:21). This mutual submission reflects the example of Christ. who humbled Himself to serve others.
  • To support the ministry of the church

To support the ministry of the church through our tithes and offerings (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). We believe that giving is an act of worship and a means of supporting the work of the Lord.
  • To live a life that honors Christ

To live a life that honors Christ (Philippians 1:27). Our conduct should reflect our identity as followers of Jesus, both within the church and in the world.
  • To submit to the leadership of the church

To submit to the leadership of the church as they lead according to God's Word (Hebrews 13:17). We recognize that God has appointed leaders to guide and shepherd the flock, and we commit to honoring their authority.
  • To practice church discipline

To practice church discipline when necessary, for the purpose of restoration (Matthew 18:15-17; Galatians 6:1). Church discipline is a loving act, intended to bring erring members back to a right relationship with God and the church.
